How To Use Facebook Places UK Deals
This post comes from our Inside Facebook series that aims to cover everything you could ever want to know about Facebook, how to best promote your company and events on the platform as well as tips and tricks for Facebook marketing.
This week Facebook finally showed signs of boosting the recently launched Foursquare rival Facebook Places with the addition of Deals for UK customers.
Facebook Places Deals is a mobile service that allows users to find nearby offers or freebies directly from Facebook on iPhone or Android phones. Companies like Starbucks, Yo! Sushi, HMV & O2 were all on board for the UK launch this week.
Facebook Deals give businesses the power to attract more customers, spread the word about the brand to nearby users and build loyalty for your company that encourages customers to return.
How To Claim A Deal
1. Log on to Facebook
Open the Facebook application on your iPhone or Android device and click the Places button.
2. Look for the Deals logo
Nearby Places will automatically appear and you can see which Places are currently running deals by looking for yellow or green tickets next to the venue name.
3. Check-in to claim
Simply click on the coloured ticket to view the details of the deal and then check-in at this Place and show your phone to venue staff to claim the offer.
Different Types of Deals
1. Individuals Deals
Individual Deals work well to get a lot of attention in a short space of time. A one-time offer like a flash sale or 20% off your purchases for a limited time that can be offered to both new and existing customers.
2. Loyalty Deals
This type of deal rewards your most loyal customers and can be a handy way to encourage your occasional customers to visit your venue more often. These types of deals can be very flexible so that customers can claim their rewards after a certain number of check-ins.
3. Friend Deals
Friends Deals is a clever way to get people to come to your venue or business as a group. Friend Deals allow you to offer discounts to groups of up to 8 people when they check in together. Since every deal claimed will be posted to the users’ profile, this is an excellent way to spread the word.
4. Charity Deals
If you’re the sort of company that cares about things like poverty, disease or abandonded puppies, then you might consider setting up a Facebook Charity Deal for your business. By creating a charity deal, you will promise to donate a certain sum to your chosen charity, every time a new customer checks-in at your venue.
How Can My Business Get Involved?
At this time, Facebook Deals are only available to a limited number of partner businesses, but soon, anyone with a Facebook Places location will be able to set up their own promotion and intice local people to visit your venue.
